Recruitment Agencies: Sleeping on the Job?

Recruitment Agencies Article Series: The Harvard Business Review has conducted a recent study that advocates sleeping on the job. Don’t rub your tired eyes, you read it right… according to the Review employees can greatly improve their productivity by having a short nap during the workday because the more hours we work continuously, the more we tax our performance.

There are three suggested ways that a nap could be squeezed into your day with number one being scheduling a time. Apparently between 1pm – 3pm is the best time and if it’s marked in your calendar you’ll be more likely to take it. Finding a quiet place is the second way. If you have an office, close your door or look for an empty conference room to take some time out in.

The third way to try to ensure your self a snooze during the workday is to tune out. Turn off the technology and set an alarm to bring you back to the business world in 20 – 30 minutes, any longer and your nap could leave you drowsy. You don’t even need to fall asleep! Just closing your eyes and resting should do the trick.

Believe it or not, there are some companies out there who are all for the concept! There has been talk of one company who has installed a ‘nap pod’ which lets employees break out and deactivate for 15 minutes and emerge from the pod feeling refreshed and renewed. According to the source the privilege is never abused by lazy employees because of the strong work ethic and performance driven environment that the ‘nap pod’ was installed in.

Of course, none of this will be of any benefit to you unless your employer is on board with the notion and it hasn’t exactly caught on here. If you have a strong work ethic, are performance driven and prefer to stay awake on the job; why not contact Beyond Services Limited today and see what is available out there for you?
