- $130,000 per annum, Wgtn CBD
- managing a suite of IT related projects simultaneously
- reporting directly to CIO
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
This organisation is, quite simply, one of the best environments you could hope to work in. Based in their Wellington office, you will be a member of their 40 strong local team. They are a national organisation employing 200 people across all areas of New Zealand.
They are undergoing a period of major business change at the moment, which means a number of IT related projects that have a strong business facing element need to be addressed at the same time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is a fixed term 2-year, salaried contract. And to be really clear at the outset; this is an implementation focused position, not a strategically focused role.
In terms of the level, the position sits somewhere between a Senior Project Manager and a Programme Manager, and it reports directly to the CIO.
Over the next two years they have 15 projects that need to be developed and implemented. These a varied projects and include things like replacing the current financial system, upgrading the website and developing an intranet, to name just a few.
The project team you will be part of numbers a total of 8 people, although you will be liaising with people across the rest of the organisation regularly.
You will be handling all aspects of the projects you are overseeing, from scoping right through to delivery and post-implementation review.
They make some use of the Agile methodology, so if you have experience in managing projects using an Agile approach it will definitely peak their interest.
As a personality, you need to be a down-to-earth person with a flexible and adaptable approach; someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved in all elements of a project. It is important to understand that, since the project team is small, you are likely to be involved in a wide range of activities.
You do need to be a self-managing, experienced person who, once you are familiar wth the project environment, is able to take responsibility for delivering the work without needing close guidance. So this isn't a role for someone who is reasonably new to the project management/programme management arenas.
WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOUR CV:
- examples of where you have managed multiple projects, all at different stages, at the same time
- experience of working with projects that have a strong element of interdependence, and which will need to integrate with each other
- experience of reporting in relation to budgets, timelines, project status, etc
