This government agency manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand. We have a great opportunity for an experienced technical and engineering professional to join this team and make an important contribution to its success.

In this role you will be responsible for:

- Leading and/or assisting with the development and maintenance of various technical guidance for building design
- Building the capability of delivery managers, property advisors, and external stakeholders (e.g. project managers, architects) in understanding the Ministry's technical guidelines and how to implement them to achieve good design outcomes
- Liaising with territorial authorities and other stakeholders about the Ministry's approach to seismic assessment of buildings, handing over seismic assessment results to internal and external stakeholders as required

To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

- A background in property and/or asset management in the public or private sector
- A sound understanding of relevant legal frameworks and the Ministry's policy and requirements for engineering and design of buildings
- Experienced in engaging with a range of individuals including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and project managers
- Competent communicator
- Well developed strategic and critical thinking skills and analytical capability
- A good working knowledge of seismic assessment methodologies and their latest developments
- A relevant building qualification is desirable
