ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
This government organisation employs around 4,000 people nationwide. It enjoys a high profile, a lot of respect and a GREAT reputation as an employer of choice in the Wellington market place.
It is an energetic and busy environment. At the same time, there is amongst its employees a positivity and an affection for the organisation that can be hard to find in a modern corporate.
ABOUT THE ROLE
First of all, let's establish what this role ISN'T. It is not a strategy and planning and scoping role that will have you carrying out 'big picture' analysis.
Instead, you will be responsible for managing the delivery of major change programmes of work. You will be managing a team of 3 Project Managers who will in turn have a series of change specialists, business analysts and project support professionals reporting to them.
Whilst it is the team reporting to you who are responsible for the actual project delivery, YOU will be the one ultimate responsible for the overall successful delivery of the programmes under which those projects sit.
Much of the hands-on work these project managers are responsible for relates to web and digital channel delivery of information and the simplification and rationalisation of existing business systems.
You will be based in a substantial Change office that is responsible for the successful end-to-end management of a wide variety of IT and business facing projects.
Your familiarity with project methodologies - PMI, Prince 2 or similar - will be well utilised, and if you have familiarity with Agile it will be warmly welcomed.
In addition to coordinating and leading a team of project managers you will be managing key senior level stakeholders, and reporting to top level management, reporting on programme budgets etc. Essentially, you are the person responsible for making sure that all of these inter-elated and inter-dependent projects stay on track with each other and that projects and programmes are delivered on time and to budget.
You can be assured of a knowledgeable, positive and enthusiastic group of professionals to work with. Even better, you will be happy to mention the name of your employing organisation whenever the question arises in conversation.
