About the role

Reporting to the Manager of ICT Architecture, you will be a member of a team of 6 in-house architects.

There are two major areas that you will concentrate on.

The first is strategic in nature. In short, that means it has a 'big picture', 'where-from-here' focus within the ICT architecture team. You will be responsible for providing guidance around the future strategic technology direction of the organisation. This includes heavy involvement in strategic systems planning as well as in researching and championing new architectural initiatives.

The other area is highly consultative in focus. You will be asked to establish strong working relationships with senior management across the wider business, and outside the ICT and architecture group. You will be listening to what the general business is saying about where they are going in the future, and will be responsible for helping to design an ICT technology strategy that meets those needs.

Strategic architecture issues of particular relevance to the organisation at the moment include the move in to Cloud-based technologies as well as major changes to business operating models, including Agile, so any background you have in those arenas will be warmly welcomed.

You do need to be highly skilled in talking about highly technical ICT architecture issues with a non-ICT audience. That means being able to convey complex technical ideas in a meaningful way that inspires, engages and reassures senior management.
