Business Relationship Advisor

Wellington | Permanent | Full-time

We’re supporting a leading public-sector organisation to recruit a Business Relationship Advisor to join a high-performing commercial function working across government.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of people, process and performance — building strong supplier and stakeholder relationships while helping lift system-wide capability.

About the role

In this role, you’ll support agencies to strengthen their supplier and contract management practices, with a particular focus on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). You’ll work alongside senior stakeholders and suppliers to identify opportunities for collaboration, improve commercial outcomes, and embed best-practice approaches through practical guidance, tools and training.

You’ll be comfortable navigating complexity, influencing without authority, and contributing to initiatives that have impact well beyond a single organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of strategic Supplier Relationship Management across agencies
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with agencies and key suppliers
  • Assist with the development of SRM tools, resources and capability‑building activities
  • Identify critical suppliers and opportunities for collaboration across the system
  • Contribute to system-level initiatives that improve commercial and contract outcomes

About you

We’re keen to hear from candidates with experience in CRM, contract management, supplier relationship management or category management, ideally within a regulated or public-sector environment.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • An understanding of government or large‑organisation procurement frameworks
  • The ability to influence, negotiate and communicate with confidence
  • A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills

Relevant qualifications or professional memberships are welcomed but not essential.

What’s on offer

  • Permanent, Wellington-based role
  • Salary range: $75,000 – $88,000 (depending on experience)
  • KiwiSaver and a comprehensive benefits package
  • The chance to contribute to work that supports better public value and system-wide outcomes

How to apply

If you’re commercially minded, people-focused, and motivated by meaningful work, we’d love to hear from you.
