We’re looking for a qualified Accountant to support an iwi led kaupapa Māori organisation on a contract through to the end of the year. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on management accounting, financial reporting, and business partnering across the Trust and its subsidiaries. Ideally you will be able to start immediately and possibly based near Whakaoriori / Masterton, but fully remote options may be available.
What you’ll be doing:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Leading budgeting and forecasting processes
- Supporting commercial projects and investment appraisals
- Partnering with operational teams to provide financial insights
- Conducting financial modelling and scenario planning
- Assisting with external audits and tax compliance
- Supporting the Finance Administrator and contributing to board reporting
- Managing general ledger reconciliations, journals, and month-end processes
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CA/CPA qualified or working towards it
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting or commercial finance
- Strong understanding of management accounting and financial analysis
- Proficiency in Xero, SAP, Oracle, Power BI or similar systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Cultural competence or willingness to learn tikanga Māori
