Beyond Recruitment is proud to partner with CentrePort to appoint an Environmental Advisor to join their People, Safety and Marine team. This is a hands-on, influential role where you’ll work alongside operational leaders to embed best-practice environmental and health & safety advisory across a complex, dynamic operational environment.

Make a real impact in a role where every day is different, offering new challenges, opportunities, and room to grow.

Reporting to a driven Health and Safety Manager, the Environmental Advisor supports CentrePort’s commitment to sustainable operations, legislative compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll provide trusted advice, lead environmental initiatives, and work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders to minimise risk and enhance environmental performance.

You’ll be playing a key role in helping the Port to maintain Toitū Gold accreditation, ISO 14001 alignment, and CentrePort’s broader sustainability goals while supporting safe, efficient port operations.

  • Facilitating environmental risk reviews and monitoring effectiveness of controls
  • Tracking and supporting improvement in environmental performance metrics
  • Delivering training, inductions and awareness initiatives for staff and contractors
  • Building strong relationships with regulators, iwi, contractors and community stakeholders
  • Supporting the integration of environmental considerations into operational planning and risk assessments
  • Championing CentrePort’s values, Golden Rules, and commitment to safety and sustainability

About you:

You’re a capable and credible environmental professional who enjoys working close to operations. You take a pragmatic approach to delivery, and are proactive and confident engaging with people at all levels – from frontline teams through to senior leaders.

Desirable experience includes:
  • Membership (or working towards) NZISM, NZSC or a similar professional body
  • Experience in sustainability initiatives such as energy management or carbon reduction
  • Knowledge of environmental risk tools and environmental impact assessments
  • Understanding of te ao Māori perspectives on environmental management
