Intermediate/Senior Estimator

As part of their growth strategy and to continue to deliver quality results and proposals they are in the process of securing their next Estimator to support the Bid Manager in developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for client projects. This role will provide an excellent platform for personal growth and develop you into a Bid Manager across key tenders and proposals.

About the Role

This role will involve working across the business, understanding the key drivers behind building tenders and bids for key pieces of work, ensuring strong relationships are developed with suppliers and clients and working with the Bid Manager to deliver effective and compelling proposals. Whilst this role is responsible for delivering effective proposals, you will also be responsible for ensuring a quality handover from the tender process to the delivery team enabling a smooth transition.

The key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Preparation of EOI/ROI documentation
  • Preparation of budget pricing
  • Bid strategy and preparation
  • Management of ITT and RFQs to sub-contractors and suppliers
  • In-house estimation of mechanical items, installation and P&G’s
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks
  • Writing the tender submission
  • Transitioning from successful tender to the delivery team
  • Engaging with internal specialists for information relating to proposal

About You

As this role requires managing internal and external stakeholders, communication and influencing skills are critical, you will be able to develop strong relationships through developing trust and ensuring reliability in delivery. Key to success in this role is attention to detail, accuracy and understanding the scope of the project through your background in a similar role in Mechanical Design, and/or Water treatment.

Key Skills required:

  • 5+ years in an estimating role - Ideally with a mechanical focus
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment is advantageous
  • Understanding of mechanical design process
  • Broad knowledge of construction activities and methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen
  • Project management understanding
  • Risk management and mitigation skills
  • Excellent writing skills
