We’re working with a high profile public sector organisation that plays a critical role in supporting communities across Aotearoa. They are seeking a commercially astute and relationship‑driven Finance Business Partner to join their Wellington-based finance team.

This is a pivotal role supporting senior leaders, helping to translate financial insight into better operational and strategic decision-making. You’ll act as a trusted advisor, working closely with stakeholders to drive performance, support planning, and deliver meaningful, forward-looking analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to provide financial insight, challenge and support
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes
  • Delivering high-quality, timely management reporting and commentary
  • Supporting investment decisions through robust financial modelling and business cases
  • Identifying risks and opportunities to improve financial performance
  • Contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes and systems

You’re an experienced Finance Business Partner (or a commercially focused Management Accountant ready to step up) who thrives in a complex environment and enjoys influencing at a senior level.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in business partnering within a large or public sector environment
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into meaningful insight
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence to challenge and influence
  • Advanced financial modelling and Excel capability
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (CA/CPA or equivalent preferred)
  • A proactive mindset and a genuine interest in contributing to outcomes that benefit communities across New Zealand
