The Financial Accountant will assist the Group Financial Controller in the delivery of sound statutory and monthly financial reporting services, tax compliance, maintaining integrity of the general ledger, management of the financial close, and supporting the development of internal control policies, systems and processes.
Role Deliverables:
- Month end and year end closing activities and reporting
- Assist with the preparation of group statutory financial statements and any other external reporting requirements, including disclosure notes
- Periodic and statutory financial reporting for specified subsidiary, associate, and other entities
- Ensure the integrity and operation of the general ledger
- Maintain the fixed assets register
- Assist with year-end processes and external audit, anticipating, identifying, and responding to auditors and third parties
- Preparation of income tax returns for subsidiaries and other tax obligations (e.g. PAYE, GST, FBT)
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations for subsidiaries
- Proactively assist in monitoring and ensuring the financial policies and processes are fit for purpose and result in good financial management practices
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or related discipline
- CAANZ qualified or working towards being a Chartered Accountant
- Solid experience in end to end financial accounting and tax compliance, preferably in a Tier 1 reporting setting
- Working knowledge of an ERP system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV
- Ideally more than 5 years’ experience in financial accounting in a large complex organisation
- Previous external audit experience desirable
