The opportunity
This is a hands-on Intermediate Accountant role where you’ll take ownership of a varied client portfolio while working closely with experienced Managers and Partners. You’ll be exposed to both compliance and advisory work, with genuine scope to grow your technical capability and client-facing confidence.
Key responsibilities
Working across a broad client base, your role will involve:
- Preparing monthly and annual financial statements
- Completing income tax returns across individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts
- Managing GST, FBT, and RWT returns, including reconciliations
- Supporting clients with day-to-day queries and building trusted relationships
- Liaising with external stakeholders including IRD and financial institutions
- Reviewing work and providing guidance to junior team members
- Contributing to process improvements and helping drive efficiencies
- Supporting onboarding of new clients and maintaining accurate digital records
About you
You’ll bring a solid foundation in public practice or business advisory, along with the confidence to manage your workload and communicate effectively with clients.
You’ll likely have:
- 1–3 years’ experience within a CA, public practice, or advisory environment
- A sound understanding of NZ accounting standards and tax compliance
- Experience using accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, or similar
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- A proactive, client-focused approach and willingness to take ownership
- Progress towards CA/CPA/AT qualification
