We are partnering with a leading New Zealand organisation within the science and environmental sector that is seeking a Management Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. This position is Auckland-based with flexibility to work from home several days a week.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working closely with the business, providing insights, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will work closely with the Senior Management Accountant and Finance Manager, contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting while ensuring the integrity of financial data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the annual budgeting process, including data analysis and preparation of supporting schedules
- Assisting with forecasting cycles and cashflow projections
- Preparing monthly management reports, including variance analysis and commentary
- Providing financial analysis and insights to support operational decision-making
- Supporting financial modelling and business planning initiatives
- Maintaining and improving management accounting systems and data integrity
- Assisting with month-end processes including journals, reconciliations, and reporting timelines
- Supporting capital expenditure processes, including tracking and reporting against budgets
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and ensuring alignment with the general ledger
- Contributing to process improvements, ad hoc analysis, and project work as required
About you:
- CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or a similar role
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or similar highly regarded)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across the business
- Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
