Our client is a well-established, family-owned New Zealand business with a strong presence in the manufacturing sector. Known for their commitment to quality, long-term partnerships, and continuous improvement, they are seeking an experienced procurement leader to drive strategy, cost performance, and operational efficiency across the organisation.

Based in Pokeno and East Tamaki, this senior leadership role will partner closely with manufacturing and finance to deliver strong commercial outcomes across multiple sites.
 

The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager – Manufacturing, you will lead the national procurement function, ensuring robust processes, effective supplier partnerships, and disciplined cost management.
You will play a key role in shaping procurement strategy, enhancing cost visibility, and driving performance across the business.
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and deliver a national procurement strategy covering raw materials and operational spend.
  • Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing relationship management
  • Partner with finance to align procurement activity with financial planning and business objectives
  • Identify and deliver cost reduction and value improvement initiatives
  • Analyse spend, cost drivers, and supplier performance to support informed decision-making
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to improve procurement efficiency and outcomes
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and commercial teams
About You
  • Proven procurement or purchasing leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving cost optimisation and business performance
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams
  • Background in cost control, process improvement, or operational efficiency initiatives
  • Confident stakeholder manager, able to influence at all levels
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using ERP systems and data-driven insights
