Our client is a large national business with operations across New Zealand. As an organisation they are currently experiencing a period of considerable growth, particularly in the Tauranga region. As a result of this growth there is a need for an Area Manager to support the growth and oversee the Tauranga, Bay of Plenty operations for this logistics-based business.

About the Role

This role will report to the Regional Manager with 6 direct reports including operations and administration along with a number of indirect reports who deliver high quality service to key stakeholders and clients. Responsibilities include managing contracts, engaging with key stakeholders, implementing strategies to ensure SLAs are met and work with the Regional Manager on a strategic and operational level to deliver on long term contracts. Due to the growth you will also be required to implement the strategic direction across the region, providing feedback and commentary on progress to the business.

About You

You will be an outstanding leader with the ability to motivate and inspire on a daily basis. Whilst having the ability to engage at the floor level, you will also need to be able to communicate at a senior level with the Regional Manager and broader business. You will have commercial nous, and experience applying it in a business context.

To be considered for this role, you will have experience:

  • Manging delivery to complex contracts
  • Engaging with external key stakeholders
  • People management
  • Implementing service delivery strategies
  • Managing and meeting Health & Safety and compliance requirements

Ideally you will be an experienced people manager from a transport or logistics related industry, with experience managing contracts, engaging with key stakeholders and delivering to SLAs. Health and Safety experience will be paramount as this organisation takes this very seriously ensuring the well-being of the team and those around them.
