Job Description

Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for your next opportunity? We are seeking a Payroll Advisor to join a supportive and collaborative team, taking ownership of end-to-end payroll processing while providing expert advice and support to employees and managers.

About the Role

As a Payroll Advisor, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll services, ensuring compliance with New Zealand payroll legislation and internal policies. You will act as a key point of contact for payroll enquiries and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across payroll processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population
  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and within required timeframes
  • Maintain compliance with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, Holidays Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Investigate and resolve payroll queries and discrepancies
  • Process new starters, terminations, leave transactions, and employee changes
  • Complete payroll reconciliations and reporting activities
  • Support payroll audits and compliance requirements
  • Build strong relationships with employees, managers, HR, and Finance teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and enhance service delivery
  • Assist with payroll system testing, upgrades, and projects as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven end-to-end payroll experience
  • Strong understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing payroll queries and providing exceptional customer service
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience using payroll and HRIS systems
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
