As Payroll Transition Lead with one of Aotearoa's largest government ministries, you’ll drive the move from an outsourced payroll model to a fully in‑house operation. You’ll design smarter processes, uplift capability, and help shape a new operating model as part of a larger P&C modernisation.

What you’ll do
- Lead the transition from outsourced to in‑house payroll
- Review and redesign end‑to‑end payroll and HR information processes
- Facilitate future‑state process design workshops
- Create clear, practical process documentation (maps, SOPs, templates)
- Coach and uplift capability across payroll and HR operations
- Partner closely with the HRIS project team to align process and system
- Independently drive complex workstreams in a fast‑moving environment
What you’ll bring
- Senior payroll expertise with deep knowledge of NZ legislation and compliance
- Experience in payroll transformation, HRIS implementation, or operating‑model change
- Strong process design, controls, and documentation capability
- Confidence leading through influence — not authority
- Resilience, judgement, and the ability to bring people along the journey
- Experience in large, complex, or unionised environments is an advantage
- High‑impact transformation role
