Principal Advisor Operational Policy - Tertiary Education Commission

The directorate:

The Strategy & Design directorate enables the TEC to take a more strategic approach to its role through the development of strategies to influence the tertiary education and careers systems. It is responsible for developing the interventions and plans off those strategies, and then marketing and communicating the integrated view of what TEC wants to achieve. To ensure consistency of implementation, they provide specification of plans and methodologies, and the design and commissioning of new products and services. The directorate owns the development and specification of the Customer Way, our organisation-wide commitment to customer service, and the Careers System Strategy (CSS).

The role:

The Principal Advisor Operational Policy is responsible for creating fit-for-purpose operational policy solutions that deliver on policy intent, support organisational strategy and decisions, and meet customer needs.

You will have:

  • Proven record in successfully leading and managing significant pieces of work and/or projects
  • Successfully worked across organisations and multiple stakeholders to design and develop operational policy
  • Can develop operational policy, frameworks, tools, rules, and business requirements
  • Good understanding of the machinery of government and policy processes
  • Relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Well-developed written (quality writing) and oral communication skills, including presentation skills  

This role is a permanent position and pays between $116k - $139k. We are looking for strong Senior advisor and/or a developing Principal advisor.
