The Procurement and Commercial Practice Lead is a key leadership role within the Commercial Delivery team. Lead and manage the delivery of the end to end procurement lifecycle with a strategic focus, within the ICT portfolio stream; ensuring the minimisation of risk, achievement of public value; aligned to strategic objectives and outputs.  

You’ll play a key role and be responsible for contributing to improving the overall capability and effectiveness of the organisations commercial function, as well enabling the development and growth of your team.

Key requirements of the role:

  • You will be an outstanding leader with a proven track record as a strategic procurement professional, who can deliver the required outputs and lead, motivate and develop teams.     
  • You’ll be setting clear strategic direction and engaging successfully with customers and key stakeholders.  
  • You’ll have demonstrated commercial acumen as well as the ability to think strategically, a sound understanding and experience of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle process, the Government Procurement Rules and best practice strategic procurement behaviour, particularly within the ICT environment.
  • Preferably you’ll also have experience working within the public sector, although this is not essential.
  • Your refined communication skills include being able to engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders with ease, and your written work will be of a high standard.  
  • You’ll be a skilled negotiator who knows when to push back, offering alternatives and information around the ‘why’, whilst still retaining customers’ engagement and buy-in.
