We have a highly rewarding 12-month contracting position with a large government organisation which will be of particular interest to Procurement professionals with a background in Social Procurement.

As part of the Injury Prevention team you will be working on reducing the incidence and severity of injuries which is a strategic priority for the organisation and one of the many ways, we help to improve lives every day. The organisation is increasing its investment in injury prevention and is implementing an ambitious Injury Prevention Strategy for long term, societal change.   As Procurement Lead, you will be supporting Injury Prevention to lead and design a procurement strategy to support the organisations investments and partnerships to reduce the incidence and disparity of sexual violence in New Zealand.

You will have an agile and innovative mind-set and will invite a collaborative working style with your key stakeholders (both internal and external). Your previous work in this area will have you well networked and you will be familiar with navigating the intricacies and sensitivities involved within complex systems change, Government and working with NGOs. You will be working in and around information that addresses sensitive topics and incidences on a daily basis. Please consider this and your tolerance to the subject matter carefully prior to lodging an application.

In this role you will work under the direction of the Corporate Procurement team, which is responsible for building strong relationships with organisation providers, managing provider performance, service delivery and end to end responsibility for strategic sourcing of services.

The ideal candidate will have most of the following skills and experience: 

  • Experience in building market capability and capacity, or new markets where solutions may not exist in current markets.
  • Ideally you will also have experience working in social or community sectors, including working with NGO’s and/or the voluntary sector.
  • Experienced in developing and delivering a procurement approach for a complex and innovative programme of work that will require a range of tailored approaches to procurement.
  • An understanding of the need to ensure solutions incorporate a Kaupapa Māori focus and work for Māori.
  • Flexibility in problem solving, including identification of innovative or alternate solutions  
  • Broad experience as a procurement specialist in the end-to-end procurement process, including a good knowledge of Government procurement processes and Government Procurement Rules, and multiple different types of procurement processes
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, networking and stakeholder management skills, including excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a broad range of stakeholders.
