Be part of a large-scale transformation shaping nationally significant products with real-world impact.
We’re seeking two senior product professionals who can combine product management and product design to lead the development of complex, high‑value products within a system-wide Education change programme.
This role suits someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, design, policy and delivery, and who brings a strong user‑centred mindset to complex environments.
You will work closely with subject matter experts, partner organisations and delivery teams to design, refine and assure products that are coherent, accessible and future‑focused from conception through to implementation. The work involves shaping products that support learning, progression and consistency across a complex, nationally relevant system, and translating pedagogical content into practical, usable outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead end‑to‑end product thinking across discovery, design and delivery
- Translate strategic intent into clear product frameworks, specifications and requirements
- Partner across multiple workstreams to ensure alignment and quality
- Bring strong user, stakeholder and equity perspectives into product decisions
- Use evidence, data and insight to guide design, manage risk and assure outcomes
- Balance big‑picture thinking with hands‑on problem‑solving
- Experience working within education or learning‑centred environments, such as curriculum, assessment, qualifications, learning design, teaching resources, education platforms, or education‑aligned policy and services
- Understanding of how learners, educators and education providers interact with content and systems, and the ability to design products that are usable, coherent and credible in real‑world educational settings
- Confidence working with ambiguity, multiple stakeholders and evolving requirements
- Strong communication skills, able to simplify complexity and influence at all levels
- A commitment to inclusive, accessible design and quality outcomes
- Comfort operating within a Te Tiriti o Waitangi context, with an understanding of Māori–Crown partnership and bicultural practice
- Familiarity with kaupapa Māori perspectives and, ideally, some te reo Māori capability or a willingness to grow it
