Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead a large-scale production operation in Wiri. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this is a key leadership role responsible for delivering production performance across safety, quality, cost, service, and people leadership.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a proven production leader from the food manufacturing/processing industry who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and has a passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and developing high-performing teams.
The Opportunity
As Production Manager, you will lead a sizeable workforce through a team of supervisors and frontline leaders, ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and operational efficiency. You will play a critical role in driving performance, improving processes, and building a culture of accountability and engagement.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day production operation within a large manufacturing facility.

Drive performance across safety, quality, productivity, cost, and service KPIs.

Manage labour planning, budgets, resource allocation, and operational performance.

Develop and implement production strategies aligned with business objectives.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.

Lead, coach, and develop production leaders and frontline teams.

Partner closely with Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Supply Chain functions.

Utilise production data and reporting to identify trends and improve performance.

Foster a strong safety-first culture and drive employee engagement across the site.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Proven Production Management experience within a food manufacturing environment, ideally meat processing.

Strong leadership experience managing large production teams.

Demonstrated success delivering operational KPIs and production targets.

Experience managing budgets, labour costs, yield, waste, and productivity measures.

Strong change management and continuous improvement capability.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

A hands-on leadership style with a focus on developing people and driving results.
