This is a hands‑on coordination role supporting programme delivery, financial administration, and governance requirements within a high‑volume, fast‑paced project environment. Working alongside programme and finance specialists, you’ll play a key role in keeping projects on track, funding accurate, and reporting delivered on time.
The Role
Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will support the delivery of a large, multi‑year capital programme. Your responsibilities will include programme and financial coordination, invoice processing, management of project accounts, and ensuring reporting and governance requirements are met in line with agreed methodologies and timelines.You will work closely with a Wellington‑based programme delivery team, finance colleagues supporting programme funding and allocations, an invoice processing team based in Christchurch, and external finance stakeholders nationwide.
This is a full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) offered on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract, with a preferred start date as soon as possible.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate programme administration, reporting, and financial processes
- Process invoices and manage high‑volume financial transactions
- Maintain accurate project accounts and monitor budgets across funding years
- Support capitalisation and project accounting activities
- Track programme status and ensure reports are delivered to required deadlines
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support programme delivery
About you
You’ll bring a solid foundation in finance or project coordination, ideally within a programme or capital environment. You are comfortable working autonomously, take initiative, and enjoy solving problems while juggling multiple priorities.You will likely have:
- 3–5 years’ experience in a similar coordination, project finance, or accounting support role
- AP/AR experience and exposure to high‑volume transactional environments
- Understanding of project accounting methodologies and sequencing
- Knowledge of capital expenditure, budgets, and funding years
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Tertiary study in Accounting (completed or in progress) is advantageous
- Exposure to structured finance is beneficial but not essential
