This project management consultancy is rapidly expanding its footprint in the water sector, partnering with a growing portfolio of clients to deliver water infrastructure projects. With long‑term contracts secured and a strong forward workload, the business is now increasing its delivery capability by recruiting both a Senior Project Manager and an Intermediate Project Managers.

The team is led by a highly knowledgeable and well‑connected Project Director, whose deep industry experience, strong local networks, and hands‑on leadership style create an environment where project managers can thrive, grow, and deliver meaningful outcomes.

Day‑to‑day flexibility is part of the culture — including work‑from‑home options — while still maintaining a strong client‑focused approach. You’ll be empowered to manage your workload, build trusted client relationships, and take ownership of your projects from planning through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage water, wastewater, and stormwater projects on behalf of the client
  • Oversee project planning, design coordination, procurement, and delivery
  • Manage consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure projects meet scope, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and risk assessments
  • Support business case development and funding submissions
  • Monitor progress, identify issues, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including councils, iwi, landowners, and community groups
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards

To thrive in this role, you will bring:
  • Proven experience delivering water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of client-side project management and governance
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience working with consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and consenting processes
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, project management, or related field
