Our client is a successful and high-profile, foreign-owned financial institution, with a well-established presence across New Zealand. Headquarters are in central Auckland.

As a result of an internal secondment, for a period of 12 months, an opportunity has become available for an experienced Quality Assurance & Portfolio Manager to join an established team.

The role will have 2 main elements. Firstly, the ongoing responsibility for conducting independent testing of credit risk across the business and reporting issues raised by reviews to the business unit and management, and, secondly, portfolio management and reporting and providing expert credit risk and related systems advice to the business units. Accountabilities will include:

  • Monitoring compliance and adherence to BU and Group Credit Policy and Procedures, and Government Legislation.
  • Maintain strong credit quality, through the early detection of potential risk accounts and ensure appropriate remedial management programmes are implemented.
  • Provide and develop relevant portfolio reporting and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Responsible for monitoring & reporting on the credit portfolio with interpretation, commentary, and potential actions.
  • Responsible for preparation of papers for Risk Committee, Board, CARF etc. Proactively identifying key risk issues and assist in developing mitigation plans. Proactively identifying emerging risks.
  • Responsibility for ensuring approvals, and ongoing management of account groups are within credit and operational policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for developing the annual Business Writing Strategy and bi-annual risk certification.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of periodic training and rollout / communication of credit risk policies.

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have at least 5+ years of experience gained in a similar role allied with a strong understanding of, and background in, the extraction and interpretation of key financial trend analysis (financial ratios and liquidity tests) on financial reports. You’ll have highly refined problem solving, quantitative, technical and analytical skills. Experience utilising SAS would be well regarded. Demonstrated capability to influence, build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders will be key to your success in this role.
