What you will do:

You will support NZDF’s financial planning process. You will work autonomously, with the ability to seek and obtain information from all levels of the organisation, and be able to translate technical advice from specialists in the acquisition, operation and maintenance of military equipment into financial impact.

A typical day may include:

  • Develop data sets for both financial and non-financial information
  • Developing, testing, documenting and maintaining costing/financial models that range from unique strategic investment decisions to regularly used models
  • Providing expertise in the areas of costing and financial modelling to projects and programmes
  • Ownership, development and maintenance of capability and organisational costing models
  • Developing, documenting and providing training in costing and modelling frameworks/checklists; and
  • The results of this work inform operational decision-making, as well as provide insight into product, process, output, and function costs for performance management

What we need:

This role is project based, so you will need to be able to manage and adapt to changing priorities as well as changing levels of engagement from details at an operational level to big picture in the strategic space. The key to your success is clear and precise communication; you will need to be able to interpret and translate data financial data and costing models to be able to engage at any level of the organisation and ensure understanding.

You will also have:

  • At least 8 years’ of practical experience in a management accounting, cost modelling or other relevant role in a large organisation
  • Excellent research and financial problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one of more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years; either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level
