Senior Finance Business Analyst (12-month Contract – Full-Time)

We are partnering with a leading New Zealand organisation undertaking a significant finance transformation programme and are seeking a Senior Finance Business Analyst to join their team on a contract basis. This role is Auckland-based with flexibility to work from home several days a week.
This is a high-impact role where you will play a key part in shaping future-state finance processes, working across stakeholders, delivery teams, and technology partners. You will act as the link between finance and programme delivery, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose and aligned with strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading business requirements gathering through workshops, interviews, and stakeholder engagement
- Mapping and analysing current-state finance processes and identifying improvement opportunities
- Designing future-state processes aligned with best practice and transformation objectives
- Supporting RFP processes, including vendor evaluation and solution design input
- Collaborating with vendors and delivery teams to ensure successful implementation outcomes
- Supporting data validation, cleansing, and migration planning
- Contributing to reporting framework design, including KPIs and performance insights
- Coaching and mentoring finance SMEs and supporting knowledge transfer
- Driving stakeholder engagement, communications, and change management activities
- Supporting go-live readiness, training, and post-implementation transition
About you:
- 8+ years’ experience as a Finance Business Analyst, ideally within large-scale transformation programmes
- Strong finance domain knowledge across key processes (e.g. Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report)
- Proven experience in business analysis, including process mapping (as-is/to-be), gap analysis, and requirements documentation
- Experience supporting ERP or finance system transformations
- Advanced stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a structured approach
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into clear outcomes
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or a related discipline (CA/CPA or similar preferred)
