My Client and the role:
Beyond is assisting a Tier one Ministry in recruiting for a Senior Financial Accountant. You will be reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager and be responsible for providing expert financial accounting advice. You wil ensure the Ministry achieves and improves its internal control, compliance, and taxation requirements for all managed entities.
Lifting the financial control environment is of strategic importance. This role is a specialist in the Ministry and is responsible for ensuring the completeness and integrity of all General Ledger reporting information to facilitate Departmental, Non-Departmental and Trusts reporting. It has a specific emphasis on improving revenue accounting and ensuring these processes are effective, efficient and complied with.
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering the following:
- Leading month end reporting
- Deliver quality financial advice, analysis and services in relation to the financial accounting area
- Ensure the financial policies are kept up to date
- Ensure all GST, FBT, PAYE tax obligations are met in a timely manner with no penalties imposed
Ideal candidate will have:
- Chartered Accountant with at least five years of post-qualification experience with strong technical accounting knowledge
- Experience working with and familiarity of financial statements and knowledge of public sector reporting requirements
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills
- Familiarity and understanding of financial reporting and reconciliation processes
- Demonstrated communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in plain language both written and verbally
- A passion for improving business processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment
