We’re looking for an experienced senior Java Developer to join collaborative delivery teams building and enhancing modern, business‑critical applications that supports Kiwis across the country.
Our client is looking for someone who enjoys working across the full software development lifecycle, values clean code, solid design and modern engineering practices. You will be part of delivery teams building applications that support complex, enterprise‑scale environments.
Must be comfortable working in Agile environments, and motivated by building scalable, reliable solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with other engineers, product and delivery teams to design, develop and support robust applications using contemporary tools and frameworks.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable Java‑based applications and services
- Produce clean, maintainable code with strong unit test coverage
- Apply software design principles, patterns and best practices
- Contribute to peer reviews, refactoring and continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively within Agile delivery teams across build and support
Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial technical experience with Java
- Solid understanding of software design, APIs and application architecture
- Experience working with modern frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot, Quarkus or similar)
- Confidence working with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL or equivalent)
- Experience using version control and modern development tooling
- Exposure to cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach
