Are you a hands-on People & Culture professional who enjoys partnering closely with leaders to build capability, strengthen performance, and foster a positive workplace culture?

We are seeking a Senior People & Culture Advisor to join a collaborative and values-driven organisation. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact by coaching leaders, supporting organisational initiatives, and delivering practical, people-focused solutions across a dynamic operational environment.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role is focused on partnering with leaders to embed effective people practices across the business. You'll play a key role in strengthening leadership capability, supporting performance and development initiatives, managing employee relations matters, and ensuring people processes are delivered consistently and effectively.

This is a broad generalist role that combines strategic people partnering with hands-on operational support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and working closely with frontline leaders and teams.

What you’ll be doing each day

Operational People & Culture Support

•    Provide day-to-day People & Culture operational support as required.
•    Support payroll continuity during peak periods, leave cover or business-critical situations.
•    Assist with oversight, coaching and support of People & Culture administration processes.
•    Ensure compliance and accuracy across employee lifecycle activities.

Leadership and Capability Development

•    Design and deliver leadership and capability-building initiatives.
•    Coach leaders to strengthen people leadership and performance management capability.
•    Support the implementation of learning and development programmes.
•    Identify capability gaps and development opportunities across teams.

Culture, Values and Performance

•    Partner with leaders to embed organisational values and behavioural expectations.
•    Support performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback and development planning.
•    Help drive accountability and continuous improvement across teams.

Workforce Planning, Talent and Recruitment

•    Support workforce planning and capability initiatives.
•    Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and internal mobility activities.
•    Contribute to talent development and succession planning processes.

Employee Relations and Change

•    Provide practical advice and guidance on employee relations matters.
•    Support organisational change and consultation processes.
•    Assist leaders to navigate people-related challenges confidently and effectively.

Remuneration and Employee Communications

•    Support remuneration review and reward programmes.
•    Prepare and analyse people-related data and reporting.
•    Contribute to clear and engaging internal people communications.

About You

You are a credible and pragmatic HR professional who enjoys working alongside leaders in a fast-paced, operational environment. You are equally comfortable coaching managers, managing employee relations matters, and rolling up your sleeves to support operational priorities when needed.

You will bring:

•    Strong generalist HR/People & Culture experience.
•    Demonstrated capability across employee relations, performance management, recruitment and organisational change.
•    Experience working within operational, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, or similarly frontline environments.
•    A practical coaching approach that builds leadership capability and accountability.
•    Confidence dealing with performance concerns, investigations and disciplinary processes.
•    Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.
•    Experience supporting leadership, learning or capability-building initiatives.
•    Exposure to payroll processing or payroll oversight.
•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex people issues into practical business solutions.
•    A collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to support a lean, high-performing team.
•    Applicants with a relevant qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations or a related discipline will be well regarded, although equivalent experience is equally valued.

Why you’ll love working here

This is an opportunity to join an organisation that genuinely values its people and is committed to building leadership capability, fostering strong workplace culture, and supporting continuous improvement.

You'll work closely with experienced leaders, contribute to meaningful organisational initiatives, and enjoy a broad and varied role where your expertise and practical approach will be highly valued.
