Our client is a large and complex public sector organisation with a broad and challenging remit.

To cover a period of maternity leave, an opportunity is available for an experienced Risk Manager to join an established team, part of a broader risk and assurance function. This is positioned as a 9-12 month fixed-term (salaried) contract position to cover a period of maternity leave. The role will have a broad, strategic focus on risk management delivery across the organisation with key duties involving:

  • Contribute to the development of the Assurance Services strategy and work programme
  • Lead the planning, development, execution and delivery of the Audit and Probity work programme
  • Engage with and develop effective working relationships with the Executive Leadership Team
  • Provide quality assurance of key audit and probity documents including brief, workpapers and audit report and audit reports correctly reflect fieldwork findings
  • Lead the maintenance of audit and probity methodologies (including planning and reporting templates, Quality Assurance rePrepare and present reports on audit and probity activity, risks, findings and advice for management or the Audit and Risk Committee as required
  • Provide targeted and relevant coaching and mentoring to individual team members

To be considered for this position, you will ideally hold a professional qualification in a relevant field such as Certified Internal Auditor, NZICA, ISACA, or equivalent, and have at least 10 years of risk management experience gained within a large, complex, government or private sector organisation, or, potentially, a big-4 professional services firm working in similar areas. The current team is made up of individuals who have come from a range of backgrounds including insurance, banking, and local government. Key to your success in this role will be the ability to quickly develop productive working relationships with executive leaders and senior management from a wide spectrum of backgrounds. From a delivery perspective, you’ll have strengths across evaluation, problem solving, planning, process and policy development, and strategy formulation.
