Our client who’s renowned to be progressive, innovative and customer focused is looking to appoint an experienced Site Reliability/ DevOps Engineer to join their talented and highly skilled team based in Wellington.  

The role: 

This newly created role will see you joining a growing and cross functional squad who have a real passion for automation. They're using the latest and greatest tools such as Cloudforms and OpenShift for their virtualisation and automation, and work in a very agile way. The work is fully qualified with a clear outcome defined, which is then delivered in sprints for a set period of time.  You will feel a real sense of achievement within this team, working collaboratively to come up with solutions to automate their infrastructure.
The SRE/ DevOps Engineer is focused on ensuring that the existing IT software and operations systems run as effectively as possible. You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of their environments; this will include troubleshooting and problem solving and helping to identify solutions when things go wrong. It will also involve identifying processes that can be put in place to enhance the day-to-day smooth running of the systems.

Skills and experience required: 

  • Demonstrable experience as a Developer or Automation Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and tools with a passion for automation and CI/CD
  • Experience of working with various scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash
  • Understanding of Cloud architecture and design principles
  • Excellent communication skills and strong knowledge & experience of Agile
  • Excellent knowledge of emerging technologies and methodologies

Highly regarded tech skills: 

  • Cloud and containerisation (AWS, Azure, or Docker)
  • Continuous Integration (Ansible)
  • Continuous Deployment (Octopus Deploy or UrbanCode Deploy)
  • Software Configuration Management (Ansible, Puppet or Chef)
  • Test Automation with tools such as Selenium Grid, Appium and AWS Device Farm
