Beyond Recruitment is supporting [MBIE/ The Construction Sector Accord] in their search for a Strategic Communications Lead. This is an important role within the Construction Sector Accord Transformation Programme.

The Construction Sector Accord (CSA) is a joint commitment from government and industry to work together to create a high performing construction sector in New Zealand. The Construction Sector Transformation Plan is a three-year action plan for change that is focused on addressing the challenges faced by the sector. The CSA Transformation Team is “hosted” by the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE). This team will ensure the success of the current iteration of the Transformation Plan, build on momentum of the work done to date, and develop the plan to be fit for purpose moving forward.

The Transformation Plan affects a diverse group of stakeholders, and effective and targeted communication with these groups through a variety of channels will be key to the programme’s success.  The Strategic Communications Lead will advise colleagues and stakeholders on communications principles to ensure consistency and clarity of messaging, while also providing strategy advice to the Transformation Director on the effectiveness of the programme’s messaging and perceptions of the brand.

You will play a hands-on role in designing and delivering timely communications and change through targeted channels across government and industry. You will be experienced in managing and delivering communications in a programme environment utilizing your understanding of how communications and marketing can be used to drive behaviour change to increase the impact of the transformational programme.

Whilst not holding line management responsibilities, you will serve a leadership role in the transformation unit and will work closely with the Transformation Director and the Leadership team to provide programme leadership with a specific focus on leading delivery across the strategic change, communications and marketing functions of the programme.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and leading the implementation of an integrated change, communications and engagement strategy for the programme
  • Leading the development of cross programme culture change campaigns or initiatives that support achievement of programme goals
  • Developing the programme brand by establishing a clear narrative supported by recognisable and consistent design work
  • Maximising the impact of programme insights and change initiatives by selecting appropriate channels and fine-tuning messaging to target parts of the sector where they are and using language they can relate to
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to the wider programme communications team

The role will be fast-paced, requiring an ability to manage a high volume of activity while managing to deadlines. It will require a flexible approach as the nature and content of the work will change depending on the requirements of the project over time.

This is a rare opportunity to join a team at the start of a highly visible transformation programme across the public and private sectors. We’d love to hear from you if you’d like a confidential conversation about the role and team.
