South Auckland based tertiary education facility is seeking the talents of a student focused individual, who is passionate about enhancing the lives of students. Through persistence comes success – this will be achieved by optimising the personal, social and academic experience of students through various processes of engagement.

As a Student Events and Communications Coordinator, you will have direct involvement in student activities and events, class talks, student communications, student groups & clubs, general services as well as participation in student experience and success.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the planning and delivery of student activities and events
  • Preparing activity/event planning briefs and reporting outcomes and learnings
  • Supporting the Student Life Manager to develop the Student Communications Strategy
  • Provide effective communication that is student-focused, innovative and informative
  • Encouraging students to establish their own clubs or groups on campus and to support fellow students to belong, grow and succeed
  • Engaging with students and their staff to provide a customer focused service
  • Collaborating with peers and external stakeholders for outside opportunities

A key focus will be leading and growing the involvement in external events and showcasing the institution to the industry, schools and local communities. Competence with social media platforms coupled with your great facilitation and public speaking skills will enable you to reach out and engage students through multiple methods.

Essential competencies for this opportunity include:

  • Event / Project coordination experience
  • Strong relationship building and customer service skills

  • Remarkable writing skills
  • Social media savvy
  • Understanding of bicultural issues and the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds
