I am recruiting for a Plant Technician / Water Treatment Specialist to support the operation and performance of critical water treatment infrastructure across the Kapiti Coast district.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on, technical role responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring critical plant within water treatment to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of drinking water services. You’ll play a key role within the team, protecting public health while contributing to continuous improvement across operations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Operate and maintain water treatment plants and associated infrastructure
Monitor plant performance and water quality
Respond to alarms and participate in a 24/7 standby roster
Conduct inspections, calibration, and maintenance of plant equipment
Investigate and resolve water quality issues and customer complaints
Assist with projects and contribute to asset management updates
What You’ll Bring:
Experience in electrical or mechanical trades (Preferred)
Strong understanding of compliance, regulation, and public health standards (Preferred)
Capability and desire to complete Level 4 Water Treatment Certification
Experience working with PLC/SCADA systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Full, clean drivers license
Experience working in high risk, monitored Health and Safety environments.
Ability to participate in on-call/after-hours roster
