This opportunity sits within Evolution’s Health & Wellbeing portfolio, a diverse group comprising traumatic brain injury sub-acute rehabilitation services, residential disability services, community assessment and rehabilitation services, acute physiotherapy services and occupational health services. These services operate nationwide, with some functions operating 24/7.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist to shape people strategy, lift capability, and champion a positive employee experience across a dynamic and growing division.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group HR Manager, the Divisional Lead will guide a small HR advisory team. You will also serve as primary People & Culture partner to a divisional leadership group led by a fantastic Chief Executive, whose career is devoted to health quality and equity outcomes. This role combines strategic influence with hands on leadership and provides a meaningful opportunity to shape organisational culture, lift employee experience, engagement, and enhance overall performance.
You will:
- Lead, coach, and develop HR Advisors to create a high performing, values driven team
- Provide expert HR advice to senior leaders and managers
- Drive workforce planning, organisational development, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Partner with managers on employee lifecycle matters, performance, and capability building
- Shape employment relations outcomes and contribute to collective bargaining strategy
- Lead divisional engagement processes, including action planning and follow through
- Support consistent recruitment practices in partnership with Talent Acquisition
- Guide policy development, change management, and broader people projects
This is an influential role for someone who enjoys both strategic contribution and practical delivery in a fast paced, service-oriented environment.
About You
- You will be a collaborative and credible HR leader with the ability to build trust, influence decisions, and coach leaders toward high performance. You’ll bring:
- Proven HR leadership, senior-level advisory, or business partnering experience in complex environments
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and best practice HR principles
- Proven capability in coaching, influencing, and supporting leaders
- Strong employment relations capability, with the confidence to handle issues early and effectively
- Experience effectively navigating change
- Ability to work in a matrixed, multi-site service environment and influence beyond direct control
- A strategic mindset with the ability to interpret people data, trends, and business needs that supports robust prioritisation to meet business needs
- Excellent planning, communication, time-management and relationship building skills
- Integrity, emotional intelligence, and sound judgement – ability to build trust and strong relationships will be key
- Degree in Human Resources, Organisational Development or Healthcare Administration.
- At least eight years’ experience in Human Resources with significant experience in complex, multi-entity services.
Experience in private health, large service environments, or unionised settings is highly desirable but not essential.
