We are seeking Mechanical Design Engineers with strong SolidWorks skills to join a high-performing engineering consultancy. You will be embedded on client sites (with hybrid flexibility where possible) and work on a variety of 3–6 month projects across NZ.
Your work will involve full lifecycle machine design — from concept and modelling to analysis, validation, and delivery. You’ll collaborate with talented engineers and contribute to meaningful, technical, hands‑on projects.
- Designing bespoke machinery, mechanisms, and production equipment
- 3D modelling, drafting, and engineering analysis (SolidWorks essential)
- FEA, calculations, and validation of design solutions
- End-to-end design ownership across multiple concurrent projects
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
- Supporting project delivery on industrial sites when required
- Updating documentation, BOMs, and change‑control records
- Identifying design risks, solving complex technical problems, and ensuring engineering excellence
- 5–15 years’ Mechanical Design Engineering experience
- Strong SolidWorks capability (required)
- Experience with machine design, mechanisms, or bespoke equipment
- FEA and engineering analysis experience (or willingness to develop)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Fast, accurate modelling and problem‑solving capability
- Self‑managing, organised, and confident working in new environments
- Adaptable and enjoys project variety
- Advantageous: Exposure to Inventor/AutoCAD and/or experience as a Project Engineer on industrial sites
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Typical earnings $100K–$130K+ depending on experience
- Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours
