Beyond Recruitment are proud to be partnering with Counties Manukau District Health Board to source a  Service Manager for the Emergency department at Middlemore Hospital.

The Service Manager Emergency Department has four primary accountabilities: 1. To provide managerial leadership to the Emergency Department in partnership with the Clinical Head and Clinical Nurse Director.
2. To provide managerial leadership to the Medical Assessment & Surgical Assessment Units in partnership with the Clinical Leads for each unit and the Clinical Nurse Director.
3. To contribute to the future development of the Emergency Department Service including developing transdisciplinary networks linking ED into the Community Setting.
4. To contribute to the development of innovative strategies that reduce acute demand within the hospital setting.

Key responsibilities will include:
• As a senior member of the division, the Service Manager will contribute to the development of the division’s direction and business plans and provide leadership, direction and management for the Emergency Department, Medical & Surgical Assessment Units.

• Monitoring the financial and non-financial performance and resource utilisation of the Emergency Department, Medical & Surgical Assessment Units with a constant focus on improvement and optimisation.

• Ensuring a highly effective performing team by supporting the performance of individuals and team with the Emergency Department Medical & Surgical Assessment Units. This will include:

  • Leadership through a consultative model for the professional, clinical and performance development of medical, nursing and support staff.

  • Ensuring that the ED 6-hour target is consistently achieved. This will require a strong internal operational focus within the Emergency Department and partnership models with Middlemore Central, clinical and non-clinical support services

  • Coordinating the development of high quality improvement initiatives within Emergency Care.

  • Ensuring the highest standards of clinical and patient care delivery through a partnership model with the Clinical Head, Clinical Nurse Director and the Nurse Manager.

  • Promoting an environment where patient/whanau care is delivered in a seamless and consistent manner through flexibility and co-operation of staff and resources across all clinical / non clinical areas.

  • Ensuring that critical success indicators are widely understood, adhered to and achieved with regular on-going review and evaluation.

  • Ensuring Emergency Department operate consistently in accordance with the financial performance indicators and measures established.

  • Providing leadership through a partnership model for the professional, clinical and performance development of medical, nursing and support staff. Position description: Counties Manukau Health
