Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment - Construction Sector Accord Team Recruitment

The CSA Transformation Team

This is an exciting opportunity to join the CSA Transformation Team. As one of New Zealand’s largest government agencies, the work MBIE does impacts the lives of all New Zealanders. We offer competitive salaries and there are opportunities for career development and work-life balance.

The construction sector creates the foundations for Aotearoa. It builds our hospitals, our schools and our homes and provides critical infrastructure such as roads, rail, pipes, and lines. It is also a significant part of our economy, employing over 290,000 New Zealanders and contributing about 7.6 percent of our economy’s output.

The CSA is a joint commitment between government and industry to work together to create a high-performing construction sector in New Zealand. The construction sector is an ecosystem that depends on the high performance of all its many parts and the Accord brings everyone together to support the collective cause.

The CSA was the country’s first Industry Transformation Plan and there are seven other industry plans in progress including the Agritech, Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Technologies, Food and Beverage, Forestry and Wood Processing, Fisheries and Tourism plans.

The Construction Sector Accord (CSA) Transformation Team was established in January 2020 and hosted within the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE). The role of the team is to ensure the success of the transformation programme to drive culture change across the sector, to build on the momentum of the work done to date, in order to achieve the goals and vision of the Accord. We work in an agile way with a flexible approach as the nature and content of the work will change depending on the requirements of each project over time.

Transformation Programme Overview

The Government has committed $37.485m to the transformation programme over three years. The funding supports the sector to achieve a renewed set of transformational goals under the new plan, to be launched in July. The new Transformation Plan has a greater focus on the Māori construction ecosystem, strengthening capability and productivity across small to medium enterprises, driving innovation and reducing carbon emissions.

These initiatives are aimed at achieving the Construction Sector Accord’s vision of a thriving, fair, and sustainable construction sector that enables the wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand’s people and its environment.
