Where I’m from: I was born and bred in Tauranga with a few other nations sprinkled in between. I moved to Wellington in 2018 to be closer to university during my post-grad studies.
My professional background: Since a young age I worked with my dad on our family kiwifruit orchards and eventually became an English as a second language tutor for nearly four years. At the same time, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish and then my Master of Arts in Psychology specialising in industrial and organisational psychology.
Why I’m passionate about my role at Beyond Recruitment: Having recently completed study in industrial and organisational psychology, I have developed a curiosity and love for the world of work and the diverse minds that form it. Working at Beyond I’ve had the opportunity to engage people across the variety of sectors and have gained so much more ‘on the ground’ insight into the needs of both organisations and candidates, particularly as the way we work continues to change. I love the thrill of matchmaking, finding great candidates and seeing them placed in organisations that are excited to have them.
What not many people know about me: Though I am a native Kiwi, my first language is actually Arabic, but I lost all memory of this when, at the age of three, my family returned to New Zealand from Egypt. Perhaps this is where my love of language learning stems from.
What I love about Aotearoa, New Zealand: I feel we are the luckiest 5 million people in the world to be living in such a beautiful, peaceful, friendly, and ethnically diverse country. I love our quirky and relaxed culture and the incredible nature that surrounds us.
