Where I’m from: I was born in Christchurch but have spent most of my adult life in the Wellington Region, now residing on the beautiful Kapiti Coast. My professional background: After a decade in health and fitness education, I pivoted into public sector recruitment. The motivational interviewing, coaching and management skills I refined in health education, have become a big part of my approach to candidate and client engagement in the recruitment world. Why I’m passionate about my role at Beyond Recruitment: It could be passion, arrogance, blind optimism or a bit of all three – But I relish the opportunity to work for one of the largest providers of talent into public sector. I care about this country deeply, and my small part to play in optimising the ‘people bit’ of Government and public service, makes me feel proud to be involved in making New Zealand Public sector a more connected and of service function for future generations. What not many people know about me: Alongside being a massive 'old school' hip-hop fan, I also used to be a professional dance teacher and performer... I've even been in a Bollywood film! What I love about Aotearoa, New Zealand: Despite what the political landscape and media often insinuate, I've found everyday kiwis are far less polarising in the 'real world'. The people I work with and the communities I live in still give me that friendly neighbour feel and 'get stuck in' attitude, and I'm blessed to raise a family in such an environment.... The Kapiti Coast comes with a bit more sun and a bit less wind as well! What I love about Beyond Recruitment: My team. They all genuinely care about me and my family. I’m blessed to have a workplace where people are comfortable to be their complete self…..a rarity these days! |
