The Role
Make a difference for New Zealanders by supporting a conduct. As a Crown Agent primarily funded by licensee fees and levies, our financial functions are critical to our success and effectiveness. As the Accountant, you’ll be responsible for performing the monthly financial and accounting functions of the organisation. This includes supporting the levy and fee system, managing the month-end process, preparing financial statements and reports, as well as providing variance commentary.
You’ll also assist with the production of the Statement of Intent, Statement of Performance Expectations, Annual Report, and business plans. You will be a key player in our work to be a high-performing Crown Entity, delivering services for New Zealand in a dynamic sector.
You’ll work closely with and provide mentoring and support to the Corporate Services and Payroll Officer and provide backup for the Accounts Payable and Payroll functions. You will play a key role in the Corporate Services team which supports all aspects of the authority’s work.
About You
You’ll have an accounting degree, CA status with at least 5 years’ experience post-qualification, with experience in financial modelling and be an expert at using Excel. It’s a real advantage if you have experience working with financial management systems in small to medium enterprises, especially if you’ve worked with Microsoft Business Central.
You’ll be well-organised, have excellent communication skills, and possess a high degree of initiative and self-management to ensure all timeframes are delivered to. As a small organisation, we need someone who is adaptable and can help the team out where needed. Previous experience working with public sector accountability is essential to the success of this role.
