Our client is a complex and interesting, government backed, organisation located in central-west Auckland. They have a headcount of circa 1,000, a mix of full-time salaried and casual time-sheeted employees.

As part of a broader HR transformation initiative, the Payroll Project Consultant is responsible for providing advice and technical expertise on a wide range of matters relating to payroll, leave and conditions of employment, pay rules and processes in order to deliver key payroll change projects through 2021 and into 2022.  The Consultant will work with payroll vendors and other stakeholders as needed to scope, assess, develop and implement payroll system/s to ensure the delivery of an updated / upgraded pay system that meets all relevant requirements such as NZ Holidays Act, PSA collective, etc.
The position is responsible as a subject matter expert, advisor and consultant on the project to ensure the pay system/s are set up and implementation is accurate, on time and meets all aspects of the project requirements.

The role may also involve providing back-up for the Payroll Services Manager and running the payroll in the Payroll Service Manager’s absence.  The position may also provide support to the operational payroll team for accurate and timely processing of payroll related activities, processing and maintaining Human Resources employee (HR) records if required.

We would be very keen to speak to candidates with relevant experience in delivering or leading pay projects or pay systems upgrades, with at least three years of payroll experience at intermediate level essential.  Experience using PayGlobal, TimeFiler, or Datacom pay system would be desirable.

You’ll require a good working knowledge of relevant New Zealand employment legislation including the Holidays Act and have a strong project delivery focus with ability to manage deadlines and work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The role will require an intermediate to advanced Excel capability.

This role is being recruited as a fixed-term contract until mid-December 2021.
