This opportunity is Hamilton based with excellent WFH options and remote working so you can be based in Hamiton, Waikato, BOP or in Auckland.

The role is in local government and is suited to an experienced Senior Advisor.

Reporting to the Programme Manager - Economics and Policy as a Senior Advisor in the Growth Funding & Analytics (GF&A) Unit, your primary focus will be to take a leading role in the analysis, development and deployment of various funding mechanisms available to to fund infrastructure and growth.

These mechanisms could include but are not limited to government grants for growth infrastructure, special purpose vehicles , targeted rates, value capture, use of Private Developer Agreements, and other future opportunities.

You will explore and work to secure innovative funding and financing beyond current tools and will work closely with programme managers in particular where there are cross organisational and stakeholder partnerships involved, and with the Analytics team.

Undertake technical analysis and contribute reports and project plans using your strong written and analytical skills.You will work closely with internal and external groups to progress growth funding initiatives. These stakeholders may include Finance, Development, Community and Planning groups internally; and developers, Iwi, Government agencies, and regional partners externally.

What you bring to the role:

  • A proven track record of thinking differently, acting with integrity, working together and making it happen.
  • Self-awareness that mindset is the foundation of performance and an ability to develop yourself and others in this regard.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in statistics, mathematics, economics, finance, public policy, or other relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in an analytics, economics, or policy role, or other relevant field.
  • High quality written communication skills with the ability to prepare and present clear, concise reports and collateral.
  • High quality analytical skills, including a proven background in Excel and other data management systems. The ability to analyse large data sets data produce meaningful, fit for purpose information.
  • Commercial experience such as engaging with and maintaining relationships with the development community or other commercial interests.
  • An open and collaborative approach to working, across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience and understanding of central and local funding mechanisms (preferred, but not essential).
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple complex projects.
