Beyond Recruitment is supporting the Ministry of Education in finding a Senior Procurement Specialist, Infrastructure to join their Infrastructure and Digital Team, Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko.

About this role:

As the Senior Procurement Specialist, you will shape procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that the Ministry and schools receive from their expenditure, contributing to the growth of future generations in New Zealand.

You will also lead a variety of procurements across our property portfolio; working collaboratively to undertake needs analysis, developing sourcing strategies, delivering procurement plans, managing and developing better processes, leading evaluations; facilitating contract negotiation and award processes. Last financial year the Infrastructure Procurement – Central team’s Procurement Specialists ran a variety of procurements, worth more than $300 million.

Your Key Priorities will include:

  • Developing strong relationships with Relevant stakeholders to help understand service requirements and refine specifications to form tender documents and help deliver value for money outcomes
  • Identifying and delivering procurement initiatives that provide value to the Ministry Capital Works programme
  • Coordinating the “end to end” tender process for large volumes of procurement activity, this includes:
  • Monitoring the delivery of services over the duration of a contract and ensuring supplier performance is being managed and reported appropriately
  • Ensuring that procurement data and information is maintained
  • Coordinating the agreement of contract terms and contract signing
  • Carrying out analysis of benchmark data to drive better commercial outcomes
  • Contributing to the improvement of procurement processes
  • Providing support to other members of the Capital Works procurement team
  • Becoming an advocate for the procurement team

You will bring to this role:

  • Good commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks
  • The ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ideally a Tertiary or industry qualification in a related field (for example are eligible or working towards Associate Member (Level 4) of CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting); and
  • Some experience in data analysis and reporting
