We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Data Analyst with a strong knowledge of financial principles to join a large government client in Wellington CBD on an hourly rate contract. You’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening financial governance and operational efficiency across a critical business unit.
The Role
This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on financial analysis and process improvement. You’ll work across OPEX, CAPEX, and PERSEX, ensuring transparency and control over expenditure while supporting strategic planning and compliance. You’ll collaborate with finance teams and stakeholders to deliver accurate reporting and develop tools that make a real difference.
Key Priorities Include:

Maintaining accurate OPEX forecasts and producing month-end reports

Developing and managing CAPEX tracking systems Designing frameworks to improve PERSEX transparency and accountability

Creating standardised financial templates and reports delivering financial planning workshops and training for cost centre managers

Collaborating with finance teams to drive consistency and best practice

Strong financial analysis and technical accounting capability

Experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and excellent communication skills

Ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights
