This well-established quality main contractor has been responsible for some iconic projects for many decades. While they are of good size, they retain more family centred values, are nimble and can move quick to make decisions. They have secure clients generating repeat work with a full work order book for the next two years selectively taking on any additional projects.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you’ll oversee all commercial aspects of project delivery between $50M - $100M —from pre-contract negotiations and procurement through to final account resolution. You’ll work closely with project teams, clients, and consultants to ensure outcomes are commercially sound, contractually compliant, and aligned with business objectives.
- Lead commercial strategy across multiple projects and business units
- Manage contract negotiations, risk assessments, and procurement processes
- Oversee cost reporting, forecasting, and financial performance
- Support and mentor Quantity Surveyors and project teams
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies
About You
You’re a commercially astute leader with deep experience in the NZ construction market. You bring a proactive mindset, strong negotiation skills, and a collaborative approach to leadership.
- Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years’ experience in commercial construction, including senior-level QS or commercial management roles
- Proven ability to manage complex contracts and drive financial outcomes
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with NZS3910 and other standard forms of contract Your cost management skills and commercial acumen are excellent with proven results in increasing profitability on projects.
- Strong experience with systems including Procore, Jobpac, Costx, ProcurePro.
Remuneration package: $190K - $260K + Benefits pending experience
