Rare opportunity for a Director of Advocacy to monitor the provision of advocacy services to health and disability services consumers, provide support to consumers and resolve concerns.
The Director of Advocacy is an independent statutory officer
This role sits on the Executive Leadership team of this government organisation and the key focus is to ensure that service provided is efficient, effective and economical. The services will need to meet strategic requirements.
This is a sole charge role and will have responsibility for:
- Contract management
- Negotation of a multi-million dollar advocacy contract
- Monitor the delivery of services and oversee the training of advocates
- Leadership
- Strategy and Planning
- Statutory functions management
To be successful in this opportunity you will need to have senior leadership experience and a comprehensive knowledge of advocacy.Preference is for health sector experience or exposure and familiarity with the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994 and Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers rights, along with a strong commitment and passion for consumer advocacy.
You will need to have contract management experience inclusive of relationship management, budget management and financial reporting, an understanding of consumer advocacy, complaints resolution and restorative processes and principles.
A strong knowledge of Te Reo Maori and tikanga and the ability to use this knowledge to improve outcomes for Maori through the advocacy service.
