Manager Data Delivery
This newly created leadership position has emerged as part of recent structural changes. The role is pivotal in establishing and leading a cohesive, high-performing team responsible for data warehousing, artificial intelligence (AI), GIS, data collection, and data standards.

Key Focus Areas:
  • Leadership and team establishment: Building a long-term, capable internal team to reduce reliance on contractors (currently a large portion of the team).
  • Capability development: Defining and developing the core in-house skills needed to support the Ministry’s long-term goals.
  • Data enablement: Leveraging data, analytics, and AI to inform decision-making and support the business.
  • Stakeholder engagement and governance: Representing the Ministry across the wider public sector and engaging with senior stakeholders, including ministerial reporting.
  • Strategic alignment: Ensuring coherent development across analytics, GIS, and data systems.
The Role:
This is an establishment and leadership role requiring someone who can shape the team and its capability from the ground up. The successful candidate will:
  • Lead the data, analytics, and GIS functions with a strong focus on integrating AI capabilities.
  • Take ownership of current projects and develop long-term strategic plans.
  • Previous experience navigating complex environments.
  • Provide thought leadership and become a smarter, more data-driven organisation.
  • Evaluating internal capabilities and identifying where external resourcing is required.
Experience:
  • Strong background in data, with a solid understanding of data warehousing, data collection, and analytics.
  • Some GIS experience is advantageous.
  • Proven leadership of technical teams in complex, fast-moving environments.
  • Politically savvy, capable of engaging at senior governance levels, and confident in ministerial-facing roles.
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement at all levels, with the ability to drive alignment and influence outcomes.
