We're seeking a curious and motivated Policy Analyst to join a dynamic government agency working on network-related policy issues that impact everyday New Zealanders.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the development of smart, forward-thinking policy by conducting research, analysing data, and helping shape advice that informs key decisions. You'll work closely with experienced advisors and engage with a range of stakeholders across government and industry.
This is a fixed-term advisor level role starting ASAP for five months.
To hit the ground running on this assignment you will to have previous relevant experience working as a policy advisor and you will ideally have a strong economic, or regulatory skill-set.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support policy and regulatory projects through research, analysis, and evidence-based advice.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including other government agencies, market participants, and industry groups.
- Produce high-quality written reports and briefings.
- Contribute to working groups and consultations on network pricing, resilience, and market design.
- Help drive policy initiatives that improve efficiency and sustainability within the electricity network.
About you:
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities
- Experience in policy development or regulatory submissions analysis
- Strong problem-solving skills and a quick learner
- Clear communicator with strong analytical thinking
- Particularly relevant to this role would be distributor experience in a distributor, where you may have held a regulatory, compliance, or BA role.
